Song Saa Island

In Cambodia’s untouched Koh Rong Archipelago, two pristine islands lie side by side. They are known locally as Song Saa – Khmer for ‘The Sweethearts’.

Forget the Maldives, this is the really place to be…Song Saa Island  Cambodia.  This first private island in Cambodia has it all.  In pure Maldivian style it has rustic over water villas where from the glass floor in your lounge area you can be amazed at the variety of  marine life living under your feet, this comes after you have softly awoken with your first sight of the blue sky, and sea, which  blends in with your infinity private pool.  Also a stair on your sun deck will give you access to the sea where you can say hello to the friendly fishes.

The resort  features luxury Over-Water, Jungle and Ocean-View villas built with sustainable materials and with the deepest respect for the natural environment.

Forget the shoes, once you arrive here with the free luxury speed boat from the mainland, you will taste the very attentive,  and at the same time laid back service which  starts on the boat, arriving at the untouched Koh Rong archipelago, the closer you  get to the  island the more you will be stunned.  On the jetty who will be greeted by the friendly staff and you will be soon part of this eco friendly environment. In totally privacy you can enjoy in villa dining, 24h room service, all included, your setting for dining or picnics is entirely your choice,  on the beach, in the jungle, on the uninhabited tiny island linked to Song Saa Island  by a wooden bridge and more. During  your Song Saa Island experience you can enjoy spa treatments, water sports, Khmer cooking classes, smell and taste products from the Chef’s garden, diving, snorkelling, yoga and meditation, eco programme to learn about local flora and fauna including turtles, seahorses and exotic tropical fishes.

Don’t forget the Song Saa foundation, they support the local village opposite Song Saa. You can go and visit the fishing village of Prek Svay where most of the staff come from. A small island with 140 families where the foundation support their primary school, clean the water, recycling, teaching the villagers how to improve local environment. It  was  very overwhelming to visit them, I had 4 full bags with me with colouring books, colours, pens, second hand kids clothes, toys. You can enjoy luxury and at the same time experience real local life and give back. I am sure these charming people will touch your heart.

Don’t forget, it is not all about the beach, you can combine your Song Saa stay with the cosmopolitan Phnom Penh and on the way back head to Siem Reap and visit the amazing Unesco heritage Angkor Wat and other stunning temples, do it on sunrise for an unforgettable experience.

Don’t forget, this is Cambodia one of the most magical and fascinating destinations in the world.
