Image of the week: New York at Night

New York really is the city that never sleeps, as recently discovered by travel blogger and events organiser Suzanne Jones. The Big Apple has many different sides – so whether you enjoy peaceful strolls in the park or lively nights out on the town, there’s a location to suit if you take a holiday to New York.

One of the architectural wonders of New York is the Manhattan Bridge, which has been captured in this breathtaking shot. It’s 6,885 ft long, and connects Lower Manhattan with Brooklyn. This image was snapped during a clear, moonlit ‘Spirit of New York’ cruise on the Hudson River; at this point, on a turn down the East River. Suzanne revealed that the cruise was packed with stunning views: passing by Downtown Manhattan on the West Side and onto the Freedom Tower, then round Manhattan Harbour.  It then went under the Brooklyn Bridge before turning round and returning close to The Statue of Liberty.
